Hey there and welcome to my blog! Let me tell you a little about myself.

My name is Stephanie, but you can call me Steph! I’m a 23-year-old Mom, teacher, and aspiring author. I am married to my best friend, Tim (he’s actually the reason behind my title — Apples on a Tree, more on that below), and Momma to an adorable little girl who we named Charlotte Leanne, and call “Hulk Baby”.

I grew up in a relatively small town in Ontario, Canada (eh?), and have always loved writing and sharing stories. With this blog, my primary purpose is to share stories of motherhood – the challenges, the experiences, and the rewards!

I also enjoy sharing stories of my health and fitness journey, as well as how Tim and I (but really, my mom, sister-in-law, and I) planned our wedding!

Our Story:

Tim and I met at work – a Tim Hortons – when I was in my second year of university and he was in his fourth year of university, after already completing two years of college. At ages 19 and 27, he didn’t even see me as anything other than a coworker. However, due to his sense of humour and love for kids, I was extremely interested in him, and determined to change his mind.

It all started when Tim asked me what town I was from, a question I usually shrugged off as no one ever knows it, but when he answered, “oh, why is it spelled like that?” – I immediately took notice! A few weeks passed and we somehow started talking about life outside of work (and I’m super shy so this was huge for me). We started small with our favourite jokes, favourite movies, etc., and gradually got more serious. It was when he talked about his family and how much he hates being so far from his nieces and nephew that I got seriously interested in him and wanted to get to know him. Being as big of a family person that I am, I knew I needed (and truly wanted) to be with someone who loved kids, especially because I want four.

I knew I had to be the one to make the first move, so I asked one of my coworkers if they could give me Tim’s number (I was wayyy too shy to ask for it myself!). I’m pretty sure I told the coworker that I wanted to switch a shift with him and wasn’t sure when I would see him to ask myself. I doubt she believed it.

So I texted Tim, and because I didn’t really know what to say, I just texted him a joke. He loves puns, so I texted “How many apples grow on a tree? … All of them!” An hour later. he replied, “That’s funny, but who is this?”. For weeks, we solely texted each other different jokes. From whenever we would wake up until we went to bed, joke. My friends were even sending me jokes they’ve heard so I could send it to Tim.

The jokes were my “in”. A month later, we had started dating. And a year and three months after that, Tim proposed on March 25, 2017.

Our Little One:

Shortly after I graduated university, we found out I was expecting. Well, it was more like Tim found out. He just had a feeling, so I took a pregnancy test, and yup – positive. After the initial shock, we were ecstatic. Growing up, I always said I wanted to be a mom by the age of 22, but I left that plan behind as I got closer to the age because I didn’t think it was realistic. Finding out that my dream was coming true made the whole situation go from scary to miraculous.

On March 22nd 2018, two days before her due date, Charlotte Leanne made her arrival into the world and forever changed both mine and Tim’s life. You can read all about the birth experience here.

Apples on a Tree:

I figured I owe the joke “how many apples grow on a tree?” for the reason I am now living out my dreams, and therefore thought it was only appropriate to name my blog after the first text message I ever sent Tim.
