  • | Third Trimester! |

It hit me the other day that I’ve been pregnant for the entirety of 2019... half a year with still 11 weeks to go!

I feel like the first four months of this pregnancy crawled by whereas the last two have flown. I’m currently in my seventh month and am really looking forward to what these next months have in store!

With this heat, I’m kind of hoping they fly by😅

But hey, if they don’t, at least I have super cute maternity clothes to get some real good use of!! I’m in love with this dress from Pink Blush Maternity that I bought for a wedding a few weeks ago - so comfy, stylish, and bump friendly!❤️
  • | Removing the Pacifier |

Before Charlotte was born, we weren’t sure if we wanted to give her a pacifier or not. Since I worked in the infant room at a daycare, I would see daily all the negative consequences of babies relying too much on their pacifiers.

However, after Charlotte was born, she started to suck her thumb. We immediately knew we wanted to end that habit real fast given that it’s a MUCH harder one to break and can be quite costly if you don’t break it in time (just ask my parents who had to pay for my braces due to me refusing to stop sucking my thumb as a child). So, we gave her a pacifier.

We told ourselves that we would remove the pacifier when she turned one. Then, she got sick for her first time ever and it was the only thing that would soothe her.

So, we postponed the date. We figured we would wait until she seemed a little more ready.

Unfortunately, I don’t know if that day is anywhere in the near future. With her latest transition of starting daycare (a daily activity that she still hates), getting sick weekly (no exaggeration, she’s still getting used to the germs at daycare), and just all around needing extra comfort - she does not seem anywhere ready to give up her pacifier at all.

I’m worried if I let it go on too much longer, it will just make the whole journey so much worse! But, I don’t think it’s kind to take it now when she is in the middle of going through such a large transition period.

So I’m curious, how old were your kids when you took the pacifier away? 👶🏼👧🏼👩🏼
  • | Balance |

Something I really, really, REALLY struggle with is finding and keeping a balance between working, momming, hobbying, and relaxing. Particularly, finding time to do my hobbies and/or fully relax.

From working 9 hours a day, sleeping 8 hours a night, and filling the rest of my time with taking care of a very Mommy-only baby, it’s hard to find any time to do anything for myself.

Don’t get me wrong, I LOVE being Charlotte’s favourite person ever; It’s just that sometimes, I want to read a book without small hands trying to grab it every two seconds!

So that’s where today’s #NEWBLOGPOST comes in - I’ve finally found a solution that allows me to take care of myself without sacrificing my job, my sleep, or my time with my daughter!

  • | Old Wives Tales |
.
When I was pregnant with Charlotte, every old wives tale pointed to having a boy. I became so convinced that when the ultrasound technician told Tim and I that we were having a girl, I nearly didn’t believe them!
.
With this pregnancy, the old wives tales are pretty divided. Here’s my rundown:
-no morning sickness
-headaches, headaches and lots of headaches
-clear skin, no breakouts (yet)
-baby’s heartbeat has been above 150bpm each appointment
-craving chips all day every day
-Chinese calendar = girl
-Mayan calendar = girl
-you can decide if I’m carrying high or low!

My vote: boy
Tim’s vote: girl
(I will note, we had the exact same votes for my pregnancy with Charlotte too!)
.
Did the old wives tales work for you? What do YOU think we are having???? Cast your vote below!!👇🏼
  • Happy Canada Day to all my fellow Canadians❤️🇨🇦❤️🇨🇦

  • | Weekend Vibes |

Honestly, I could not be any happier that it’s Friday! These last two weeks have been so hectic with me getting sick, then Charlotte getting sick, and then Charlotte getting sick again😅
.
I feel like I haven’t done a single productive thing in forever - it’s been all resting up, wiping noses and soothing tears! Charlotte also started this new thing where she wakes up at 3am demanding a “buba” and not sleeping again until 4am. It’s lovely!! Not tiring at all!!
.
But in all seriousness, I am so looking forward to these two days of being able to enjoy family time💗 I’m counting down the minutes until the end of Tim’s and my work shifts!
.
What are your weekend plans?
  • | Big Sister Coming Soon! |

Trying to explain to Charlotte that there is going to be a new baby that Mommy and Daddy have to take care of is a little... useless, considering her young age.

BUT, we try nonetheless!

With the nursery being (mostly) done, we’ve made it apart of our nighttime routine to point to the second crib and say, “Baby will sleep here” or pulling out some of their clothes and saying, “Baby will wear this”. We have never really gotten a reaction from Charlotte, until last night.

Last night, Tim and I were patting my belly and saying, “Baby”. Over and over: pat, pat, “Baby”. Charlotte was watching intensely, as usual, but after the 10th or so time, she joined in with the pats and even saying “Baby” herself!!!
.
Of course I don’t expect that she knows what she is doing or what “Baby” even means, but I love watching her through this massive transition!! 💗

Now just to keep my fingers crossed that she will handle the arrival of her little sibling easily and without too much jealousy!

I’m curious, how did your child(ren) react with the arrival of their sibling??
